Three Injured in Queen Street Hit and Run Tuesday Night

One person was critically injured and two others taken to the hospital following an incident near the Outback Steakhouse in Southington late Tuesday night.

Southington police are searching for information after a hit-and-run accident outside the Outback Steakhouse on Queen Street left three women injured, including one critically, on Tuesday night.

Police said that just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, a "white or red SUV" was heading north on Route 10 when it struck three woman in front of the restaurant at 817 Queen Street. The pedestrians had been walking south in the roadway in the northbound lane, police said.

"After striking the pedestrians, the vehicle fled the scene," Southington Police Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said Wednesday. "As a result of the accident, one of the pedestrians was critically injured. Two of the injured (people) were transported to Hartford Hospital while the third was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital."

Police said Yan Qiao "Joanne" Chen, 23, of Southington, suffered critical injuries in the accident. Her condition had not improved by Wednesday morning, staff at the hospital confirmed.

Huai "Emily" Liu and Yang "Rita" Hong, both 23 and from Southington, each suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. Both remain at Hartford Hospital.

"The evading vehicle may have been an SUV, possibly white or red, which was last seen traveling north on Queen St.," Dobratz said.
